Finding the Courage to ‘Do It Scared’

When my son and daughter were little, sometimes they would want to do something and were filled with fear. They would say, “Mommy, I’m scared to do it”, whatever childhood thing it was. I would lean down and gently say, “Do it anyway, honey, just do it scared.”  The last few years of my life, I have heard my words many times and had to choose whether to listen or ignore them. In my journey of creating life after loss, I have done it scared over and over.DSC01036 - Copy

On July 19-21, women will gather at Deep Creek Lake area to attend a Live Your Life Women’s Retreat. The setting offers the beauty and splendor of nature. It is a peaceful place to be. Sit by the pond, walk in the woods or listen to the babbling stream. The owners call it ‘Streamside’, which is very fitting. I call it ‘Serenity Place’.

The theme is ‘I Choose To Do It Scared.’ Have you ever attended a Women’s Retreat? If not, it will take great courage to sign up, pay the fee, spend a weekend with strangers and allow yourself to let go of fear. The fear of seeking the truth about who you are and who you can become will stop you from being your best self, if you let it.DSC01025 - Copy

During this special weekend, there will be time for you to share, only if you want to, and listen to the lessons learned by other women. We can learn from each other’s strength. Our time together will be filled with lots of talking, laughing and tears, too. You will have the opportunity to create a personalized journal.  There will be ah-ha serious moments and silly ones, as well. Much peace will be found in the solitude of the ‘Be still and know that I am God’ moments.

Please join us in learning how to move beyond the fear and choose to Live Your Life. The meaning of courage is to be afraid, and then, with your heart beating fast, sweaty palms, DSC01021 - Copyknees shaking, you choose to step out anyway. We will go on a journey of defining the boundaries of our comfort zone and finding the courage to explore what we yearn to do and the reasons we struggle to do it.

Feel free to email me at   with questions about the retreat. I’d love to communicate with you!
